Know Her Name is a mystery documentary that delves into the legacy of filmmakers and uncovers the mystery of why women, especially women from underrepresented communities like Zora Neale Hurston and Esther Eng, have been forgotten in discussions of film, erased through HISTORICAL AMNESIA – and, how to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen to contemporary filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, now and in the future.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Zainab Muse is a Canadian filmmaker and award-winning entrepreneur, and the founder of CREATORLAND, a production company dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices. Her work spans documentaries, short films, feature-length projects, and a film and philosophy podcast, with credits for CBC and Bell. She also consults on international co-productions and serves on the Programming Committee for the Black Screen Office. In 2022, she was a fellow in both the Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices Initiative and the Black Women Directors Accelerator.
